Celadon tea bowl

$350 (CAD)

While always an experimenter, Wayne Ngan was also a master of traditional forms and techniques. He produced a wide variety of tea bowls, and this example shows his take on celadon glaze. Ngan achieved a very soft and gentle green celadon with this bowl. Its shape is typical of his later forms, experimenting with angles and curves to make a uniquely shaped chawan. Yet, the high foot and thick walls are both classic Ngan touches.
