New and vintage ceramics from around the world

Nathan Tichenor ceramics collector and dealer

I first came to ceramics at the age of 14 when I took a job at a small studio on Vancouver Island. While I worked as a glazer, I still became familiar with all the steps in a pottery business, from handling the raw materials to selling pots at arts festivals.

After studying Asian Art History at the University of British Columbia, I began to collect Japanese antiques which then expanded to contemporary art and photography. However, in the early 2000’s, the resurgence of interest in studio pottery made in British Columbia reignited my love for ceramics.

My interest in ceramics from Western Canada quickly expanded to those made in England and Japan - a progression that followed the influences which invigorated the studio pottery movement of the 20th century. Around 2020, my collecting had ignited into a passion. I then decided to sell ceramics as well. With the excuse that the more I sell the more I can buy, I am inspired by each piece that passes through my hands.
