Shuidi in Chinese and suiteki in Japanese, Mitsufuji Takuku’s water droppers connect with the centuries-old literati practice of calligraphy. Water droppers are not only functional tools; they are also aesthetic or whimsical objects. Made to supply water for mixing ink, Mitsufuji’s cats are shaken gently to release single drops of water from the tips of their tails.

Before turning to ceramics as a career, Mitsufuji studied drawing and painting at university. And his focus turned to manga, working under his professor Sagawa Miyotara, the renowned manga artist.

There is a graphic element in much of Mitsufuji’s pottery, connecting his drawing and clay practices. But these water droppers also allow him to incorporate sculpture and character into his ceramics. Fitting comfortably in the palm of the hand, each of these water droppers has a distinct and charming personality.

Comes with the signed, stamped, and titled wood box, stamped wrapping cloth, and CV.
