Wood-fired stoneware vase
British Columbia, 2023; 5” high by 4” wide.
$200 (CAD)
This stoneware vase by Vancouver-based potter Michelle Grimm was wood-fired in the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts kiln in Burnaby. The wood-flame kiln effects on the unglazed portion of the vase are dark and rich, and it works nicely against the matte white glaze on the vase’s neck and shoulder. The shape and proportions of this piece are particularly refined.
Originally from Maryland, Michelle Grimm studied interior design at the Visual College of Art and Design and has won several international design awards. For the past number of years, Michelle has been practicing ceramics in Vancouver, gaining a special affinity for atmospheric-fired pots
