This stoneware vase by Vancouver-based potter Michelle Grimm was wood-fired in the Shadbolt Centre for the Arts kiln in Burnaby. It has a beautiful “split” between the grey stoneware with ash deposits on one side and the wood-flame’s orange kiln markings on the other.  

Originally from Maryland, Michelle Grimm studied interior design at the Visual College of Art and Design and has won several international design awards. For the past number of years, Michelle has been practicing ceramics in Vancouver, gaining a special affinity for atmospheric-fired pots
