Jiri DUCHEK (1970 -)
Celadon tea cup 3
Czech Republic, 2026; 3 1/2” wide by 1 7/8” tall.
$95 (CAD)
An assortment of celadon tea cups recently arrived directly from Jiri Duchek’s studio in Mutejovice, about 60 km west of Prague. He established his pottery there more than 25 years ago where he has been wood-firing his Asian inspired ceramics ever since.
Ducheck gathers his own clay from his property, refining the clay body to make it suitable for throwing and firing. He also collects his own materials - minerals and wood ash - from the countryside nearby.
As a devotee of Gongfu style of tea, Duckek produces pieces that are not only suited for serving tea - or sake, or whiskey, etc. They also feel remarkable in the hand, and on the lip. Not to mention they are beautiful just to look at and admire.
Each cup holds about 100 ml or 3.4 fl. oz. New from the artist’s studio.
